US biologists shed light on how deadly virus becomes infectious

CHICAGO (AFP) – - Biologists have mapped how a deadly class of viruses including dengue, West Nile, yellow fever and encephalitis become infectious in a pair of studies published in the journal Science.

“This is possibly the most detailed understanding of how any virus matures,” said study author Michael Rossmann of Purdue University in Indiana.

Rossmann and his colleagues detailed critical structural changes that take place as the dengue virus moves from the inner to the outer portions of its host cell.

The findings pertain to all viruses in the family of flaviviruses which are carried by mosquitoes and ticks.

They found that a protein which coats the genome of the virus particle undergoes large changes in its structure so that it becomes capable of fusing with cell membranes.

This structural change, which occurs as the virus is being secreted from its host, allows the protein to infect other cells rather than attaching itself to its host.

“It’s like a bird being pushed out of the nest and suddenly being able to fly,” Rossmann said in a telephone interview.

This transformation occurs as the virus is exposed to progressively less acidic conditions which change the protein structure in its outer shell.

“This change in acidity was already known, but its impact on the maturation process was not known until these new findings,” Rossmann said.

This discovery could help researchers develop an antiviral treatment for dengue fever, which infects more than 50 million people and kills about 24,000 each year.

“There are a number of places where small drug compounds might interfere with the changes which we describe,” he told AFP.

A vaccine has not yet been developed for dengue fever because multiple exposures can actually increase the risk of developing the more deadly dengue dengue hemorrhagic fever.

Oncologists may not count dead children in their statistics: The next year, several chemo drugs including vincristine, and etoposide, are administered to children in another chemo experiment. Etoposide is the fourth and last drug in the chemo cocktail they would administer to Alexander fourteen years later.

Oncologists admit that chemo is ineffective: A year later, after trying out all the various chemo drugs on children, a group of pediatric oncologists admit that the role of chemotherapy is “unclear, ” that “responses are generally transient,” and “virtually no cures are reported.” They also admit again that an “active” drug (a drug that may temporarily shrink a tumor) has no relationship to a cure.

Oncologists admit that chemo is ineffective and increases the risk of infection: “The (survival) rate was not improved by the chemotherapy program. An increased risk of infection was associated with the chemotherapy.”

The fact that chemotherapy actually causes cancer should be of no surprise to the oncologists. The chemotherapy they gave Alexander and thousands of other children is listed as “Known Human Carcinogens” by the National Institute of Health, the National Cancer Institute and the FDA.

In fact, cyclophosphamide was listed as a “Known Human Carcinogen” by the First Annual Report on Carcinogens published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in 1980. In addition, there are four other chemotherapy compounds on that list.

Furthermore, the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer lists ten chemotherapy agents including cyclophosphamide and all alkylating agents as “Materials known to be carcinogenic to humans.”

It is hard to believe that oncologists would be injecting known human carcinogens into children with cancer. But, that is exactly what they are doing. They should not feign surprise when the children begin developing secondary cancers.

This is what happened to Alexander. His first cancer was medulloblastoma. After three months of chemotherapy the cancer returned as 30 separate tumors. At that point the doctors called it “leptomeningeal sarcoma.”

The chemo is not the problem, it’s the children who are at fault: It’s 1993 and the oncologists have a new strategy – blame the victim. The drugs are exactly the same. Now, the problem isn’t that the chemotherapy is worthless. The problem is the children. They just have a poor prognosis.

“Children younger than 5 years who have PNET have a poor prognosis.”

Today, according to the oncologists, children on chemotherapy have their brain cancers return in an average of 5-7 months. With chemo, Alexander lived a little more than five months from when he was diagnosed and he had all his tumor removed.

Incredibly, the children operated on 70 and 80 years ago already beat Alexander in terms of survival, but if these kids had had the benefit of a modern surgery they might have lived even longer. Who knows how long these children would have lived if they had been given a modern operation?

This suggested that chemotherapy was shortening children’s lives, not lengthening them!

But even after these admissions that “virtually no cures are reported” with chemo in 1985, that chemo is “controversial” in 1991, “unproven” in 1993, and provides “a poor rate of survival and high treatment associated morbidity (i.e. side effects)” in 1997, nothing changes.

Here we are in 1998. The children are still getting the same drugs. The children die of the disease or the chemo itself. The conclusion is that the treatment doesn’t work. How many dead children did it take to reach that conclusion? What’s worse is that even with that conclusion, the oncologists continue to use these drugs on children….

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do

 not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a

few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more

cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the

tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached

 the detectable size.

 

 

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person’s

 lifetime.

 

 3. When the person’s immune system is strong the cancer cells will

be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumours.

 

 

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple

 nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic,environmental,

 food and lifestyle factors.

 

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet

 and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

 

 

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells

 a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off

 one important food supply to the cancer cells . Sugar substitutes

like NutraSweet, Equal,Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is

 harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or

molasses but only in very sma ll amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to

 make it w h i te in colour. Better alternative is Bragg’s aminos or

b. Milk causes the body to

produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk

 and substituting with unsweetened soy milk, cancer cells are being starved.

 

 

c. Cancer cells thrive in an

acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish,

and a little chicken rather than beef or pork.  Meat also contains livestock

antibiotics,growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people

with cancer.

 

 

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains,

 seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline

 environment.  About 20% can be from cooked food including beans.

Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and

reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes t o no urish and

enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building

healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables

including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a

day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).

 

 

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and

chocolate, which have high caffeine.

Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting

properties.Water-best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known

toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

 

 

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of

 digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become

What are transfer factors and how do they work? Soon after giving birth, female mammals produce colostrum, which is a milk-like substance that jump-starts a newborn’s immune system. Researchers now believe that the benefits of colostrum don’t necessarily end there. If you have a compromised immune system or are just looking for a boost to your healthy immune system, colostrum may be the jump-start you need to fight infection or immune-related chronic diseases such as cancer. 

Transfer Factor is a set of messaging molecules that convey immune information within an individual’s immune system. Nature also uses transfer factor to carry immune information from one individual’s immune system to another individual. This in fact is how it got its name: by being the factor that transferred immunity from one person to another. Transfer factors are the primary communications used by the immune system to defend against harmful microbial threats. Transfer factors are small molecules that occur naturally in all mammals and are passed from mother to newborn through the mother’s first milk called colostrum. By transferring information from cell to cell, transfer factors serve as “teachers” to the cells, ensuring a strong immune system capable of surviving, even thriving, in its new environment.

How was Transfer Factor discovered? In 1949 Dr. H. Sherwood Lawrence was working on the problem of tuberculosis. What he was trying to discover was if any component of the blood could convey a tubercular sensitivity from an exposed recovered donor to a naive recipient. Whole blood transfusions could be used but only between people of the same blood type. Lawrence first separated the blood’s immune cells, the lymphocytes or white blood cells, from the whole blood. Then he broke open the lymphocytes and separated the contents of the cells into various size fractions. What he found was that a fraction of small molecules was able to transfer tuberculin sensitivity to a naive recipient. This is what Dr. Lawrence called transfer factor.

Transfer factors may become a valuable way to treat communicable disease in the future as researchers learn more and gain the ability to isolate specific factors. In fact, transfer factors may someday cure the diseases ravaging the world population, such as AIDS and Ebola. After the tragic 2002 Ebola outbreak in Uganda, freelance journalist Sam Wainaina explored the potential benefits of transfer factors in Africa. In his article, Wainaina concluded that had transfer factors been used during the outbreak, it could have been contained sooner, saving lives and avoiding mass hysteria.

Is blood the only source of transfer factor?  Originally it was. It was not until the mid 1980’s that two researchers came up with the idea that Transfer Factor may also be present in colostrum. The confirmation of this discovery was awarded a patent in 1989. Colostrum is now the best source of transfer factor.

What is colostrum?  It is the first milk that a mother produces immediately after giving birth.

What prompted these scientists to look for Transfer Factor in colostrum?  Those who have worked with cattle know that if a calf is not allowed to nurse from its mother it will most often die within a short time. The calves would die in spite of an abundance of food. Death in these cases was cause by infections brought on by the most common organisms. For whatever reason the immune systems of these calves were not working. Seeing this suggests that there is some kind of immune information was being transferred from the mother and her infant. The logical question then became: was it transfer factor? The answer was a resounding YES!

Transfer Factor™ is isolated from colostrum, what about milk allergies and lactose intolerance? Milk allergies are caused by the large milk proteins, primarily casein, and to a lesser extent the immunoglobulins. These proteins are completely removed from the transfer factor. Lactose intolerance is most common in Oriental populations; much less so in those of European or African decent. We are conscience of this concern and remove the lactose from our product.

Can persons who have milk allergies use Transfer Factor XF?
Yes. Transfer factors themselves are non-allergenic. Common allergens such as immunoglobulins and casein are removed from Transfer Factor products.

Can persons who are lactose intolerant use Transfer Factor XF?
Yes! Lactose intolerant persons can consume up to three grams of lactose without difficulty due to colonic bacterial digestion. The amount of residual lactose is well below these sensitivity limits.

Are there any differences between dried colostrum and 4Life’s Transfer Factor XF?
Unlike colostrum, Transfer Factor XF contains a concentrated amount of transfer factors, the active ingredient found in colostrum. Explanation of Transfer Factors

Have you ever wondered how many components of your body and immune system know what to do and when to do it? When a bacterium, virus or fungus enters your body, dozens of immune system cells, molecules and body chemicals move into action and work to together to defeat the invader or kill a mutated cell that has become cancer. Once the battle with the pathogens is being won, this army of immune system components knows to quiet down and decrease activity. If they didn’t you could develop an autoimmune condition such as lupus, MS, diabetes type 1, Crohn’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis or one of more than one hundred other autoimmune conditions.

Your immune system has smart cells or smart molecules that regulate all of this activity. One class of these smart peptides is called transfer factor. You have millions of transfer factors in your body right now. Without these regulators, your immune system would be chaotic and less effective.

An agent that causes allergies should pass through your body without triggering an immune system response. Your Immune System – A Priority System

Scientists in Japan recently conducted a major study of individuals who had low natural killer cell activity. Those that were low in natural killer cell activity developed cancer at a greater rate than individuals with a higher level of natural killer cell activity. The immune system makes all the difference!
The immune system even affects your energy levels. Your immune system is the #1 priority system in your body. Why? Because it fights for your life every day. A simple cold germ would multiply until it killed you if your immune system didn’t stop its multiplication.
Germs enter your body several times per day. Any one of them could kill you. Your body is constantly under attack from free radicals that mutate cells. Macrophages seek out these mutating cells and kill them. Once the macrophage kills the cell, it secretes a chemical that creates a fibroblast, which is very important to the birth of a new cell.
Since the immune system is the priority system, it gets your body resources first when you are under attack. Think about how you feel when you are ill.
